The Google TV Streamer is a new device that was just released in late 2024. We got one right away and started testing it as a replacement device for the Nvidia Shield TV Pro devices we have been using. We are really excited to see how this device performs over time, but it checks all the boxes for what we are looking for to have at our short-term rental properties.
- Universal remote: Being able to have a single remote that allows the guests to do everything with the TV is crucial – we don’t want multiple remotes and a complicated setup.
- Ethernet connection: For us, we really want to make sure the Wi-Fi network at our property isn’t bogged down by streaming TV, and also want to make sure that the TV works regardless of the Wi-Fi network. Having the option to hardwire it via ethernet is also a huge plus
- Good price: It is an inexpensive device that does a lot for your short-term rental.
We have always recommended using an external device to power the smart features of your TV. Typically these external devices get better updates and will stay current as your TV hardware ages. The bonus is that you can upgrade your streaming device to a better one without having to replace your TV.
Our experience thus far, coupled with all the features that are packed into this small device, we highly recommend the Google TV Streamer for your short-term rental or Airbnb.
